Which Keyword Finder Should You Choose?

Ah, keywords. Without them, the Internet marketing business would probably not exist. Keywords are words and/or phrases that perform valuable functions. It is extremely important to choose the right keywords and put them in the right places on your website or blog. There are many tools that can help you with this crucial task. One is a keyword finder, also commonly referred to as a keyword suggestion tool. There are both free and paid finders, all with their own pros and cons. It is a good idea to choose a keyword tool that works well with your particular online business.

Try out the free tools first to get an idea of how things work. Google Adwords has a free keyword suggestion tool. This free tool gives you lots of information, like the number of searches performed monthly and how much competition there is for a particular keyword. Another very popular free tool is Wordtracker. Their free version can tell you the number of searches performed for a particular keyword and it lists related keywords and their search volume. Wordtracker offers a paid version for the marketer who needs a more in-depth keyword research program.

Ok, so now that you know easy ways to find keywords, you need to know how to use them. As a general marketing rule main keywords should be included in an article or blog post at a density of no higher than around 3%. They should be used in the title, and in strategic locations throughout the page. You may also want to use keywords in the HTML meta tag area of your site development tool. And, when you submit your site to directories you are often asked for keywords, know which ones to use.

As to what keyword finder is best for you, it depends on various factors. If you want something bare bones simple yet useful, go for the free Wordtracker tool. For something that is free but a bit more sophisticated try the Google keyword tool. If you want the best there is go for a well-known and reputable paid program like the one offered by Wordtracker or another program such as Keyword Elite. Always research any paid program in depth before making a purchase. You can sometimes find objective opinions at webmaster forums and groups.
